WE INVITE YOU TO KNOW US!

THE BEGINNING
In June 1996 seven ship modeller friends met and founded the C.A.M.N.E. (Club Argentino de Modelismo Naval a Escala) (Scale Naval Modelling Argentine Club)

THE OBJECTIVES
To promote the radio-controlled scale ship modelling in our country.

To organise tournaments of radio-controlled scale ship models in a year round schedule, sailing into NAVIGA international type courses. To publish "RADIOCONTROLADO" each two months, an 18 pages magazine that includes general information about the hobby, "full scale" ship technical articles, "how-to-do" modelling techniques, workshop tips and tricks, and news about the activity of the club. To establish the cheapest possible subscription fees to membership, in order to give everybody the opportunity to join us. Membership includes the reception of "RADIOCONTROLADO" magazine for free.

To organise show events on some special holidays, in order to collect donations for children’s health care.

In that way we fulfill the basic objectives: 1. To offer diverse hobby related activities.

2. To bring information about this hobby to those interested in it.

3. To teach building techniques for all skill levels.

4. To give the ship modellers the possibility to be members of an active institution.

THE PUBLIC RELATIONS: ESTABLISHING CONTACTS
We are in contact with other clubs and organizations that develop similar activities, many of them in the area of Buenos Aires and La Plata cities, and other cities inside our country, like Córdoba, Bahia Blanca, Mar del Plata, Rosario, San Pedro. We also are in contact with foreign Associations and Clubs in Spain, Brazil, Mexico, Chile, Uruguay, etc.

We carry out activities in co-operation with the "Hospital Alvarez Voluntary Women Association", donating an important quantity of toys in opportunity of every year’s "Children's Day."

HEADQUARTERS
The member’s meetings are held on the second Friday every month, at the CLUB SANTA LUCIA, Av. Montes de Oca 1517, Capital, Argentina.

The small lake "La Saladita" in the Avellaneda city, province of Buenos Aires, is an ecological reservation in which we have our headquarters for recreation and sailing our models. There are wide and comfortable facilities including a pier, marina and an electric powered dinghy, a gazebo with open grill, parking lot and sanitary services. Some of our members practice snorkelling on some summer days.

OTHER ACTIVITIES
We perform special visits to ships, submarines and shipyards, participating in shows, competitions and diverse exhibitions.

Our own published videos, give us the promotion and diffusion of the Club’s "fleet" ships and submarines and several events like our "Naval Combat" contest.

TOURNAMENTS AND YACHTING
Our club develops different tournaments:

"JORGE PETRALLI"
Being the most important tournament of the year, it is so called after a beloved founder member who passed away on (fecha del deceso). It is divided into two types of evaluations: "Aesthetic" and "Dynamic." In the first one, the models are qualified by the application of building techniques, complexity and appearance, etc. In the second evaluation, each skipper must sail his/her model through a buoy-marked course, making the least mistakes as possible. Each test is carried out for separate. The models are rewarded in six categories: both Exact Scale and Freelance Design are divided in three ranges of length: up to 90 cm., from 90 cm. to 1,40 mt. and from 1,40 mt. to 2,50 mt.

"TUGS OF THE CAMNE"
This tournament promotes the construction of tugs. If the participant does not have a tug model, he or she can participate with one lent in equality of conditions. It is divided in two different tests:

"Barge pushing". Each tug should navigate a cargo barge through a buoy-marked course making the least mistakes possible.

"Towing Team". Two tugs should manoeuvre a 2 meters length ship through the course. It is necessary to show co-ordination and dexterity between the two skippers in order to achieve the success in this test.

"TESTS OF SAILING" "Dynamics Test", divided in three categories (up to 90 cm., from 90 cm. to 1,40 mt. and from 1,40 mt. to 2,50 mt.), this competition is developed in a single day.

"MINI’S CUP"This is a "Dynamics Test", of a single category (up to 50 cm.). The trophies are a cup for the 1st place and two medals for the 2nd and 3rd. This competition is developed in a single day.

"SHOWS"
We perform several shows, representing naval combats, rescue of shipwreck’s victims, fire fighting in an oil platform, etc., and including special effects of fire and explosions.

These shows are carried out in May or October every year, when several model ship clubs meet.

THE SUBCOMMITTEES
The subcommittee is a group of ship modellers, with a specific speciality interest. Up to this day the club has formed the subcommittees of:

SUBMARINES
Investigating and exchanging information on their history, techniques and characteristic, publishing articles and organising special guided visits to the submarines that periodically visit us.

There are not many countries where we can find groups devoted to this special subject of the model ships. The USA has the biggest number of fans, and most of them are members of the so-called "SUBCOMMITTEE" organisation.

NAVAL COMBATS
are an Argentina RC category. It consists on a game of dexterity and coordination in which two fleets’ face until simulated "sink". A fleet is the attacker and the other one is the defender, which should escort a convoy between ports. The models are same in both fleets ("PT" type boats of 700 mm. length) and they are equipped with a target device in the stern that, when activated, raises a flag rendering the boat "out of combat."

NAVAL FORCES 72
is a subcommittee that groups modelers that build their models to the 1/72 scale. They grow-up a true taskforce to scale, that every year adds more ships to this fleet.

DRAWINGS AND DOCUMENTATION

The lack of drawings and documentation is one of the biggest issues that the activity has. Currently, we have a big portfolio of drawings. Also we are recording CD’s with information of ships, both civilian and military, sailing our country waters.

LINKED TO THE WORLD
Internet is helping us to be communicated with everybody, bringing ship model making information to all the people that wants to be documented about the different techniques, and up-to-date information on our activities. Our WEB page is showing our models and activities, and we maintain it. Summarizing, the C.A.M.N.E. activities are very varied. We believe in the interest of those that are currently practicing or want to practice this hobby, and in that belief, we invite them to join us and share ideas. They will be listened to and we expect they will feel comfortable in the C.A.M.N.E. Thank you!
